The Los Angeles Lakers have officially been eliminated from the playoffs, and as the regular season draws to a close, a lot of people are expecting the franchise to make a lot of changes in hopes of building a contender next season.

One of the rumored changes that the Lakers management will make is firing current head coach Luke Walton, who hasn't been able to lead the team to the playoffs despite having four-time MVP LeBron James in the line-up. According to sources, one of the front-runners to replace Walton should he be relieved of his duties is Jason Kidd.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Kidd was asked about his thoughts on the possibility of coaching the Lakers. The former New Jersey Nets superstar can't help but rave about the idea, even calling the Lakers the best sports franchise in the world

“Not just in the NBA, but the world. And so if you ever have the opportunity to wear the purple and gold, you can't turn that down. As a coach, as a player, because they're all about championships, and so they have a process. They have a young team. And then LeBron (James) comes and kind of sped up things. And so he wants to win now. But I think again, it takes time.”

Jason Kidd added that having the opportunity to coach LeBron James will make him take the Lakers coaching job immediately when offered.

However, since these are nothing but pure speculations, Kidd remains open to any coaching opportunity that will come his way.

“We'll wait until the season's over to see what opportunities come about, and hopefully, there's one that fits,” he added.

Kidd has had brief stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks as coach, and while both didn't end the way he wanted them to, he still hasn't given up on the possibility of coaching an NBA team again. The Lakers could very well be his next stop.
