LeBron James made it clear last season he was not a fan of the play-in tournament. The Los Angeles Lakers star's reaction to the playoff before the playoff drew polarizing responses around the NBA.

LeBron James and Co. eventually fell into the play-in tournament and won their winner-take-all affair against the Warriors to advance. However, for a banged-up Lakers side, it was one additional game in an injury-riddled season.

Lakers owner Jeanie Buss recently doubled down on LeBron James' comments from a few months ago.

Via Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic:

“I obviously see the excitement of it,” said the Lakers owner. “If we would have lost two games, we wouldn’t have been in the playoffs at all. And that’s, that’s a tough pill to swallow. When you’ve been in the top eight for the entire season. You never dropped out of the playoff position. But yet, you know, you can lose two games, and that’s what happened to Golden State, they were at the eighth spot, and then they ended up losing to us and then to Memphis and they didn’t make it in the playoffs. I could see where it’s kind of fun for one game, but I don’t want to diminish what happens in the regular season.”

Regardless of the disapproval both from Buss and LeBron James, the NBA is still pushing through with the play-in tournament next season, and most likely the seasons to come. Given the Lakers' huge offseason, they're definitely hoping not to fall into the play-in mix this time around.
