While the Los Angeles Lakers were aggressively pursuing a deal for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis prior to the Feb. 7 trade deadline, forward Kyle Kuzma naturally found himself at the center of trade talks.

A report surfaced that Los Angeles made a godfather offer to the Pelicans for Davis that includes Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Ivica Zubac, Josh Hart, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and multiple draft picks, but the Lakers were rebuffed.

Now that the deadline has passed, Kuzma can safely play out the rest of the season knowing that he will be a member of the Lakers…at least until the summer, when his name is likely to pop up in trade rumors yet again.

When asked how he views the constant trade speculation, Kuzma bristled:

“No, the trade rumor is over,” said the second-year forward, according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints. “I've already said what I have to say. I'm tired of answering it. I'll probably answer trade rumors in April, too, but I don't care.”

Kuzma is right.

Should the Lakers miss the playoffs, Kuzma's name will certainly appear in trade rumors yet again in April, as many will question if Kuzma and the rest of Los Angeles' young players are a good enough supporting cast for LeBron James.

The good news for Kuzma, however, is that New Orleans did not seem to like LA's offer very much, so it actually seems pretty likely that the Pelicans will trade Davis to a destination other than the Lakers come the offseason.
