Kyle Kuzma is one of the young Los Angeles Lakers who can learn a lot from his new teammate, LeBron James. LeBron's work ethic, basketball IQ, and championship pedigree can all rub off on Kuzma and his youthful teammates.

In fact, James is already showing the younger guys on the Lakers the way.

“I think he's going to impact a lot,” says Kuzma about adding James. “He’s the ultimate professional. He’s one of the first guys in the gym and one of the last ones to leave. Usually, I say I’m the first guy, but he’s beaten me to the gym a couple times already.”

“First guy in the gym” is a cliche that can be overused and misleading at times. Just because you're the first person does not mean you work the hardest. Everyone has worked with someone who is the first in the office, but that didn't necessarily mean they work the hardest.

That's not the case here. LeBron's work ethic and dedication to his craft is no secret around the league. He has worked tirelessly over the years to hone and perfect his game. He's still the best player in the world even at 33 years old, and much of this is due to his ability to be the “first in the gym.”

It's certainly a cliche, but perhaps the symbolic nature of arriving early will help motivate others on the team. It's clear that Kuzma has noticed.

This is a huge reason why Magic Johnson and the Lakers brought in James. He can help mentor the young guys on the team, which seems to have begun already.
