The Los Angeles County has responded to Vanessa Bryant over her move to name the deputies allegedly involved in sharing the photos of the crash that killed her husband, Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna.

According to a report by TMZ, they have obtained legal documents in which lawyers for LA County accused Vanessa of doing a “fishing expedition that is taking first responders away from their jobs.” The lawyers argued that the widow of the Lakers icon is putting the deputies at risk by exposing their names on social media and calling them out, as she is only opening them to potential threats.

It remains to be seen how Vanessa's camp will respond to the latest statement made by LA County. However, it is worth noting that Bryant won a case allowing her to name the deputies who allegedly shared the crash photos.

Last March, US District Judge John F. Walter ruled that the deputies can be named despite the attempt of LA County lawyers to stop it as they argued the deputies can be targeted, even by hackers. The judge noted that the reasons they presented is not strong enough to warrant secrecy of the names involved in the matter.

“Although the Court recognizes that this case has been the subject of public scrutiny and media attention and that the Deputy Defendants are legitimately concerned that they will encounter vitriol and social media attacks, such concerns, by themselves, are not sufficient to outweigh the public’s strong interest in access,” Judge Walter explain as he ruled in favor of the wife of the Lakers legend.

This is only the latest on the ongoing case Vanessa has filed against LA County. To recall, after the Lakers great, his daughter, and seven others perished in the tragic helicopter crash last January 2020, there have been reports of first responders to the scene sharing photos of the crash site.
