The Los Angeles Lakers appear to have their new face of the franchise will rookie point guard Lonzo Ball becoming a polarizing figure. Ball has embraced the spotlight in Los Angeles and may be the team's next superstar in the post-Kobe Bryant era.
Along with Ball potentially being the franchise's next superstar, his controversial and outspoken father, LaVar Ball, has made a bold claim about his son. LaVar believes that Lonzo could be a bigger star than Bryant was in Los Angeles, via Complex.
LaVar on Lonzo: “He can be bigger than Kobe. By far.”
Rich: “How?”
LaVar: “Social Media.” #ComplexCon

Although it seems like another crazy statement from LaVar, the patriarch of the Ball family may have a point considering the social media factor. Lonzo already has a significant presence on social media with his Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as the “Ball In The Family” show on Facebook Watch which was renewed for a second season recently.
Lonzo became a household name well before he made his NBA debut with the Lakers and continues to see his popularity rise. Despite his shortcomings on the basketball floor in the first month of his rookie campaign, mainly in the scoring department, Ball has shown potential to be a superstar and the player needed to get this team back into playoff contention.
Obviously, it will take some time before the Lakers know what they have with Ball. Whether he can be bigger than Kobe remains to be seen and may not be known for many years as he'll be trying to match an iconic player that played for 20 years and won five titles during that time.
