Always known for not being shy to speak his mind, LaVar Ball was once again back to his ways, this time giving his suggestion to the Los Angeles Lakers on what he thinks they should do to help his son, Lonzo, improve on his shooting this season.

The 20-year-old has not had the best of starts to his NBA career, as even if he is producing solid rebounding and assist numbers, he has struggled with converting shots from the field, by only knocking down 29.9 percent of his attempts. The older Ball recently shared, via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, that he believes allowing the Lakers rookie to play the entire fourth quarter of their games, will do wonders to his efficiency on the floor. LaVar added that he Lonzo may not shoot a lot of shots, but his presence will let him be involved more with the flow.

“Let him play the whole fourth quarter and bet you’ll always win. He’ll get into a better flow,” Ball said. “The in and out, sitting out six to 10 minutes? He’s not going to take no shots because he’s not in the flow. He don’t want to hurt the team by shooting.”

Despite his comments, head coach Luke Walton will most likely stick to his rotation, and the playing time he’s giving the UCLA product. Lonzo Ball is already leading all Lakers players with 33.0 minutes per game, and he has also made it clear in the past that he understands there is a learning curve for him, even with all the expectations on his young shoulders.

That may be the case moving forward for Lonzo, but LaVar’s comments are certainly very interesting, to say the least. While playing more minutes has not been the more common way to address shooting struggles for players, it also goes to show how unique of a character he has, and also on his ways to bring more attention to his family.
