The Los Angeles Lakers have as much to work on off the court as they do on it this season.

There's no question that they have the talent to win it all. But how they're able to communicate their roles and coax the necessary sacrifices from one another will be a vital part of their success on the scoreboard.

According to Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, LeBron James has led by example in making sure the rest of the team has the same mindset.

Via Lakers reporter Kyle Goon:

Rob Pelinka on the Lakers so far: “It just feels like this group realizes that everyone will have to … set a selfish desire aside,” for the realization of the team success, and that LeBron is leading that mentality so far this offseason.

LeBron James and the Lakers have faced a ton of criticism for their aging roster, but so far they're entering training camp with a clean bill of health.

The other side of the coin is that their veteran savvy makes it easier to lock into the needed mentality, as Rob Pelinka put it, for them to take their championship quest as seriously as possible.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are hungry to redeem themselves after an early exit last season. Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony are ready to bookend their careers as winners and erase the unpleasant narratives against them.

The Lakers' ability to stay healthy will be something to monitor throughout the season. But there's not going to be any need to keep this team motivated.
