Lakers superstar LeBron James sent out a congratulatory tweet to Sierra Canyon boys basketball team for advancing to the California state championship round.

James' son, Bronny, plays for Sierra Canyon, as most of his followers know. However, it was Ziaire Williams' game-winning shot that sent the Trailblazers through to the championship game.

James, who is fresh off his best weekend in a Lakers uniform, commended the team's effort, noting that he is “beyond proud.”

Notably, Sierra Canyon was down 61-48 with just over three minutes left to play. They went on to score 13 unanswered points.

Though he's in his 17th season of service, LeBron is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. For the first time, he has a shot at leading the NBA in assists. James has always been known as a great facilitator, but leading the entire league in this category would be a true testament to his unselfish style of play. And let's not forget that he's a forward — not a point guard.

In his 60 appearances with the Lakers this season, James has racked up averages of 25.7 points on 49.8 percent shooting (34.9 percent from beyond the arc), a career-high 10.6 assists, 7.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 34.9 minutes per outing, vaulting himself into the MVP conversation.

James and the Lakers will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll serve as hosts to the Houston Rockets. Tip-off inside the Staples Center is set for 10:30 p.m. ET, with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
