To say that the Los Angeles Lakers' roster looks different would be like saying Kanye West's new album is meh. It's an understatement. The Lakers underwent a major facelift in the offseason that would make Caitlyn Jenner blush.
The Lakers' backcourt, for one, will be entirely new compared to last season, with Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn, and Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington, Kent Bazemore, and a returning Rajon Rondo taking over for Dennis Schroder, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso, and Wesley Matthews. At face value, it feels like an upgrade, especially with the caliber of Westbrook.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel mentioned that their backcourt defense has already improved with the arrival of the new guys. While he singled out Bazemore as a key defensive player, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times revealed in a report that scouts are also raving about Nunn.
Scouts have agreed with Vogel on Bazemore—he’s probably the most equipped to take on the challenge of one of the NBA’s top wings. Another name, though, that’s come up is Kendrick Nunn. Scouts love his toughness and think he could be a factor on that side of the ball, too.

While Nunn is a solid defender, he's more known for his scoring prowess. The lefty playmaker has the ability to penetrate the lane and also knock down outside shots. But his role with the Lakers could change, especially with the surplus of offensive players already.
Whatever it is, the Lakers surely had a steal in acquiring Nunn.
