Anthony Davis was a much-improved player in his first year with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he may be even more lethal this 2020-21.

With the regular season set to begin on Dec. 22, the Lakers are giving the go-ahead for Davis to attempt more 3-pointers in the upcoming campaign.

“I’m just trying to get back in the rhythm, find my game. Coach wants me to shoot more threes, and why not get used to it in the preseason and get the shots up? That’s all it was. I’m just trying to find the rhythm and be confident in my shot,” Davis said, via Mike Trudell of Spectrum Sportsnet (h/t SB Nation).

In his first year with the Lakers, Anthony Davis attempted a career-high 218 triples, making 33.0 percent of them. He would then proceed to take his game to another level in the playoffs, making 38.3 percent of his three-point attempts on 2.9 tries per game.

During Friday night's preseason matchup with the Phoenix Suns, Davis attempted seven 3-pointers, nailing six of them en route to a 35-point performance. After his long-distance barrage, it looks like Frank Vogel wants to see Davis attempt more outside shots.

When it comes to a LeBron James-led team, they've always been at their best when there is spacing on the floor. During his time with the Miami Heat, The King had Chris Bosh to stretch the floor at power forward. With the Cleveland Cavaliers, James had Kevin Love.

Fans already know how dominant Davis can be on both ends of the court, as he showed off his elite skills in the NBA Finals with the Lakers. However, as he prepares for his second season in Los Angeles, the Purple and Gold may even be scarier if Davis is able to consistently knock down threes.
