It's been a few weeks since the Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel. The head coach led the team to a brutal 33-49 season and 11th place in the Western Conference. After missing the playoffs for the first time in three years, Vogel was the scapegoat for the disappointing season.

Now, the Lakers are continuing their search for a new head coach. They recently entertained Darvin Ham as a potential candidate and requested an interview with the Milwaukee Bucks assistant.

NBA insider Shams Charania tweeted the news Friday afternoon.

Of course, the assistant coach is a little busy right now. The Bucks are still working to defend their NBA title in the playoffs.

If Ham does interview with the Lakers and scores the job, it will be his first head coaching position in the NBA. However, it wouldn't be his first gig with the Lakers.

The former NBA player began his coaching career in the minor leagues. He was the assistant coach of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds from 2008 to 2010 before becoming the team's head coach until 2011.

Ham began his NBA coaching career with the Lakers as an assistant from 2011-2013. He then served as the Atlanta Hawks assistant coach until 2018, before eventually heading to Milwaukee.

It would be a complete full-circle ended if Ham began his head coaching career in the same place his NBA coaching career began. However, there is stiff competition for the role. Recently, Shaq endorsed former Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson as the main for the job.
