LaVar Ball is starting to become a problem for the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the last few weeks, he's spoken out about how Lakers head coach Luke Walton handles his son Lonzo. But Walton, to his credit, has shied away from publicly denouncing LaVar in any kind if incendiary way.
However, Walton did come out and say he's not worrying about what LaVar says about the way he coaches the team, per Bill Oram of the Southern California News Group.
“We don’t take parents’ opinions into our coaching decisions and how we’re trying to grow as a group,” Walton said. “The relationship with Lonzo means a lot to me, so I stay in constant contact with him and how he’s doing. But as far as other people’s thoughts on what we should do, I don’t concern myself with those.”
Lakers fans out there may be tired of hearing about LaVar, but the fact of the matter is he is undermining what the team is trying to do, and it is at a detriment to his son. LaVar may not agree with how others coach Lonzo, but it is not his job to make those decisions. It's not his AAU team.
At some point, the Lakers organization will have to address with this LaVar. It hasn't happened yet, but if LaVar continues the way he has, it will happen.
