Magic Johnson believes LeBron James will bring a championship to the Los Angeles Lakers in due time, as he predicted with unequivocal belief upon making an appearance in ESPN's First Take.

“It's gonna happen. It's gonna happen,” said Johnson, who resigned from his post as president of basketball operations right before the regular season finale against the Portland Trail Blazers. “Just like me going back to my business and doing what I'm doing. LeBron is gonna win that ‘chip — he's gonna be in that group recruiting.”

“Lakers gotta decide — it's gotta be Jeanie (Buss), LeBron and Rob (Pelinka) and probably Frank. That's it.”

Johnson had just talked about his frustration with the chain of command, as he was unable to take decisions without first consulting with a bevy of names that owner Jeanie Buss kept in her inner circle.

However, the Lakers need a lot more help that crunching a few select names to make basketball decisions.

The front office is in complete disarray and at the hands of a former player agent with no executive experience. Despite having Johnson at the helm, who also had zero experience going into the job — it's been a blind leading the blind since Buss overthrew her brother Jim from power and assembled her own front office — still failing to bring the Lakers to the playoffs, now going on six seasons of misery.

It will take more than James' recruiting to bring a sound name to the City of Angels, especially considering the caustic remains from this past season that has disappointment and dysfunction bottled into the Lakers' executive branch.
