Many Los Angeles Lakers fans are certainly ecstatic over the team's major acquisition of Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook. Lakers legend Magic Johnson is also thrilled to see his former team pull off this blockbuster trade.

The Lakers went all out to acquire Westbrook on Thursday. They reportedly traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and their 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft to the Wizards for the nine-time All-Star.

Magic Johnson is not one to shy away from providing his opinion on NBA trades via Twitter. After the trade was announced, the Hall of Famer chimed in with his take on the move by noting that the Lakers will be “tough to beat” this upcoming season:

The Lakers had been scouring the trade market for another star to join forces with LeBron James and Anthony Davis — and now they have that player in Westbrook.

The one-time NBA MVP winner is just coming off one potent campaign in his lone season with the Wizards. Although he got off to a sluggish start, Westbrook finished the season on a promising note as he averaged a triple-double for the third time in the last four years. More so, he helped lead the team to a playoff appearance in the Eastern Conference.

Westbrook not only joins the Lakers as their newest starting point guard, but he comes in with plenty of high expectations, especially as the team aims to win a second title under LeBron James.

Magic Johnson and Lakers fans will surely be looking forward to how Westbrook will fit in with the team and whether he may finally claim a long-awaited championship. Westbrook has come close several times to winning a championship, and now he will get another shot to achieve this feat over his upcoming run with the Lakers.
