Free agent and veteran point guard Rajon Rondo is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers on a deal worth the minimum for two years.

Per Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports, Rondo received a player option in the second year, allowing the 13-year floor general to exercise the clause should he decide to stay in LA another year.

Rondo spent this past season with the Lakers, averaging 9.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in 29.8 minutes per game, 46 appearances, and 29 starts. He shot 40.5% from the field, 35.9% from behind the 3-point arc, and 63.9% from the free throw line.

Rondo previously played one-year stints with NBA franchises Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and New Orleans Pelicans before settling in LA.

The 6-foot-1 guard was selected with the 21st pick in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns after a two-year collegiate career at the University Kentucky and was traded to the Celtics on draft night. Rondo spent eight-plus years in Boston, winning a ring alongside Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce in 2008.

Rondo isn't the only player returning for Los Angeles next season. The Lakers are re-signing center JaVale McGee and guards Alex Caruso and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

It's been a busy summer for LA as star forward Anthony Davis also enters the Hollywood fray, acquired in a blockbuster deal with the Pelicans, which sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart, plus multiple first-round picks, to the Bayou.

The Lakers also signed former New Orleans teammate of Rondo and Davis' DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year deal and reached an agreement with two-time NBA champion shooting guard Danny Green on a contract.
