Russell Westbrook does not have the smoothest of relationships with reporters, especially following tough losses or rough shooting nights. This much was apparent back in Westbrook's stay in Oklahoma City, when he repeatedly turned a cold shoulder towards Berry Tramel, a reporter for The Oklahoman.

But his relationship with reporters appears to be taking a turn for the better, especially after a hilarious interaction despite the Los Angeles Lakers' 133-115 loss against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Russell Westbrook did not have the best of games on Tuesday night against the Clippers. In 25 minutes off the bench, Westbrook had 17 points and five dimes, but on 4-13 shooting from the field and 8-13 shooting from the charity stripe.

However, that did not deter a reporter from showering the former MVP with so much praise that Westbrook couldn't help but crack a huge smile.

“First of all congrats on making the 24,000 points mark. Tonight you used impressive dribbling skills to successfully fake out your opponents multiple times. And in the second quarter, you made a jumpshot where your body was turned 180 degrees away from the basket. It was just an amazing shot. You're always making these spectacular moves within a split second. Do you anticipate doing them or is it just a second nature to you, like do you just not even have to think about it?” the reporter enthusiastically asked.

All the while the reporter was heaping gushing praise after gushing praise towards him, Russell Westbrook couldn't hide his elation from hearing commendations from the media for once. Thus, Westbrook responded in kind, saying that the reporter should stick around more often given her positive outlook.

“You know, the way you explained it, you need to be around more often,” Westbrook said, eliciting laughter in the media room.

This interaction is a refreshing reminder that professional athletes are humans too. As much as fans and some members of the media try to besmirch Westbrook's game for its inefficiency and glaring shortcomings, all he sometimes needs to hear is that he did the best he could even if the game didn't turn out the way they wanted.
