Talen Horton-Tucker let out all his frustrations on Thursday night. The Los Angeles Lakers guard balled out for a career high 40 points against the Golden State Warriors/

THT absolutely shattered his previous high of 28, skipping the 30s entirely for a 40-piece in one of the final Lakers games of the season. His 40 mark is even higher than any total from either Russell Westbrook or Anthony Davis this season.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel spoke out on what he saw from Talen Horton-Tucker after his clear-cut best game of the season.

“He really just had a look about him that he was going to attack this game,” said the Lakers coach. “He's at his best with the ball in his hands with shooters around him. We haven't been able to create that type of role for him. But you see what he can do when he has that type of setting.

It's been a tumultuous year for THT. After signing an extension with the Lakers, which also came with heightened expectations, his efficiency fell way down as his season went sideways rather than upwards for an LA team that sorely needed him to play well.

“This is why were signed him to the extension and why we believe in him. The key is trying to get this type of efficiency slash production when he doesn't have the ball in his hands.”

On a night like this, with the stars out and the pressure to perform not as strong, Horton-Tucker's talent was able to shine through. While it's a little bittersweet for it to happen with the Lakers already out of playoff contention, seeing THT explode the way that he did, at least for one night, reminds fans that the potential is still there for him if put in the right position to succeed.
