Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has shared multiple times in the past about how he thought of playing in the NFL during the 2011 NBA Lockout. In fact, most recently, he told Peyton and Eli Manning during an ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast how the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks offered him a deal to suit up in the top professional American Football league.

After hearing LeBron's story, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll chimed in and confirmed that Seattle did offer the Lakers star a chance to play for the team. While Carroll didn't remember the finer details of their offer, he emphasized how intrigued he was about the idea.

“I can’t remember the specifics of that, but you can see why I would, there’s been plenty of evidence,” Carroll told Seattle Times. “I think we were having fun with it at the time, but I’m sure there were some serious thoughts in my head that it could be a good idea.”

When asked about the role the Lakers forward would have played for the Seahawks, though, Carroll admitted he's not sure what LeBron James could do. Nonetheless, he noted that it would have been fun to experiment and see how the NBA superstar would have fared in the NFL. For what it's worth, James played football in high school as a wide receiver.

“I don’t know what he couldn’t do,” Carroll furthered. “He’s an all-time athlete and competitor. It’s not the same game, it doesn’t mean it necessarily carries over, of course, but it would have been fun to try to find out, I know that.”

Sure enough, it would have been interesting to see LeBron play in the NFL. He is a physically gifted athlete, and his out-of-this world athleticism would have surely helped him stand out in any sport.

However, the Lakers and NBA fans in general are lucky LeBron chose to pursue basketball instead. Without him, it's hard to imagine what would have been the state of the league given how influential and powerful he is in the modern game.
