Lonzo Ball just completed his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers, but his father LaVar Ball is already talkinga bout signing an extension with the team.

According to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype, LaVar has said that Lonzo is willing to take less money when he signs his next contract, so the Lakers will be able to get better players around him. He also talked about LiAngelo and LaMelo taking the same deal, but it's still to be seen if they will end up on the Lakers.

The reason LaVar says that they are willing to take less money is that they are going to make enough money off the court to make up for it.

It really doesn't come as a surprise that LaVar is saying this, because it's only a day removed from him saying that his kids would be the first Billionaires to be playing ball. LaVar says it's the popularity of the Big Baller Brand shoes in China, that is the path that will lead them there. LaVar talked about his idea at the scouting combine at the IMG Academy.  Via Andrew Joesph of USA Today:

“Check this out. This is nothing. Melo's shoes are $400. Lonzo's shoes are $500. If they sell a million shoes within a year or two, I'm giving them all the money. So that's $4-500 million they're gonna make right there … Lonzo, Gelo and Melo are going to be the first ball players to be billionaires playing ball.”

A lot of the ideas about the shoes seem far-fetched, but the good news for Lakers fans is LaVar seems happy with what the Lakers are doing right now, and he isn't threating to make Lonzo sign somewhere else.
