Rumor: Person close to Kemba Walker has doubts about his desire to live in Los Angeles

Kemba Walker

Rumors that Kemba Walker would be the third piece to the LeBron James and Anthony Davis tandem in Hollywood flared up following the blockbuster deal between the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

However, according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer, a person close to Walker has doubts about the Charlotte Hornets All-Star’s desire to live in Los Angeles:

Walker is making Charlotte his priority, but is still willing to listen to what other teams have to offer. He loves playing for the franchise that drafted him and claimed he is even willing to take less than the supermax.

Given that Walker became an All-NBA player for the first time in his career, he is eligible to sign a whopping $221 million deal over five years. Other teams such as the Lakers can only offer him four years, $140 million.

Nonetheless, this should not stop the Lakers from pursuing the All-NBA point guard, as he is reportedly a top priority in free agency following the Davis trade.

Surely, that triumvirate would be enough to propel the Lakers to among the top teams in the Western Conference. Los Angeles can certainly provide him with a better winning outlook than he ever had in Charlotte.

Kemba Walker hasn’t had much team success in his eight years with the franchise, making the playoffs just twice. Perhaps the appeal of being able to accomplish something special alongside James and Davis in Los Angeles can convince the three-time All-Star to make the jump to Hollywood, even if he has reservations about the city.
