Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is already a part-owner of Premier League giants Liverpool, but it appears he's taking that relationship to the next level.

Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Merseysiders and the Boston Red Sox, has announced that James will collab with the football club to produce a Nike line that will connect The King with Europe's most loved sport. The whole idea behind it? To rival what Michael Jordan did with his brand and basketball.

This is what FSG chairman Tom Werner said on the collaboration between LeBron James and the Reds. Via The Boston Globe:

“We’re doing a product line with LeBron and Liverpool,” he explained.

“Nike is creating seven or eight products that connect LeBron with soccer.

“I don’t know specifics yet, but they’re going to create seven or eight products that rival the connection that Michael Jordan has with Nike.”

LeBron James purchased a 2% stake in the club in 2011 but his involvement has increased since, now serving as a partner. He's always seen supporting Jurgen Klopp's side on social media and even wore some of their training gear at the opening of his Innovation Center in October.

This is an absolutely phenomenal idea from Nike. Combining one of the biggest NBA stars with a massive club like Liverpool who have fans all over the globe is a recipe for success. Nike also plans to use Drake and Serena Williams to promote Reds merchandise.
