The Detroit Lions have had about as rough a start to the season as any team in NFL history, save for their own start in their winless year in 2008 (sorry Lions fans). Sitting at 0-8-1 after a tough tie against the Ben Roethlisberger-less Pittsburgh Steelers, it's hard to imagine that things could get any worse. The latest update on quarterback Jared Goff is proof that it can, in fact, get worse for the Lions.
#Lions coach Dan Campbell tells reporters that QB Jared Goff (oblique) won’t practice today. Reserve Tim Boyle, still on IR but with his window open, will take first-team reps — potentially opening the door to Boyle starting.

Ouch. Already considered a longshot to suit up in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns, Jared Goff is not starting the week off well with a potential ‘DNP' due to an oblique injury at Wednesday's practice.
If Goff, who somehow ranks 33rd in the NFL in QBR, per ESPN, isn't able to play, the Lions will likely be forced to start journeyman quarterback Tim Boyle. Boyle was recently activated off injured reserve- after being sidelined with a thumb injury- and took the first-team reps for the Lions on Wednesday, putting him in line to start against Cleveland.
Boyle has played in a whopping eight NFL games in his career- and has only attempted four passes. As bad as Goff has been, Boyle can't be much worse. Or can he?
Lions fans might need a friend now more than ever as the team prepares for a matchup with Myles Garrett and the fearsome Browns' pass rush this Sunday.
