LSU Tigers head coach Will Wade was put right on the hot seat after the school received a notice of allegations regarding violations from his men's basketball program the football team. Following a loss in the quarterfinal of the SEC Tournament to Arkansas, his seat is now vacant.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the program has parted ways with Wade and will promote Kevin Nickelberry to the interim head coach spot. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that the severity of notice of allegations is the primary reason for his firing.

Wade took over the LSU program in 2017. In 2019, Wade was caught on wiretap discussing a “strong ass” offer to recruits that involved money. He was subsequently banned from the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. He was also alleged of having a role in payments to 11 players in 2020.

The Tigers won the 2018-19 SEC Regular Season Championship and made the NCAA Tournament in that season and last season, winning three total games. Seven of Wade's LSU players — Naz Reid, Cam Thomas, Skylar Mays, Tremont Waters, Trendon Watford, Javonte Smart and Brandon Sampson — made it to the NBA. Wade posted a 161-108 record as LSU's coach. Prior to his stint at LSU, Wade coached at Virginia Commonwealth and Chattanooga.
