Former LSU player Tyrann Mathieu had a lot to say about the newest addition to the LSU coaching staff. Brian Kelly hired Frank Wilson to be his associate head coach for the Tigers football team. The Kansas City Chiefs safety took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the coaching acquisition:

I’m happy for coach and his family!! Also I am happy for our fans and the great state of Louisiana because I know he will not let some of this state best talents leave! He will also find a few diamonds in the rough that you may have never heard of. He’s one of the best!

“No one knows the recruiting landscape in Louisiana better than Frank,” Kelly said in a statement released by LSU. Wilson wore many hats for LSU prior to Kelly's introduction to the organization. From 2010 to 2015, he was the running backs coach, recruiting coordinator, and associate head coach of the Tigers.

NFL.com named him the top recruiter in all of college football (2014), and Scout.com titled him the SEC Recruiter of the Year (2015). During Mathieu's second year, Rivals.com named Wilson the National Recruiter of the Year (2011).

Mathieu had a great career as a safety for LSU from 2010 to 2011, playing on the team during Wilson's first bout at Louisiana State. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 before becoming a key part of the Chiefs' defense.

Wilson went on to coaching at UTSA and McNeese State before eventually finding himself back at LSU.
