Former Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson has to regrets about his tenure in Orlando with Dwight Howard.

The Magic were a perennial playoff team during the Howard era and went to the 2009 Finals, where they lost to Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.

Howard was traded by the Magic to the Lakers in the summer of 2012. Jameer Nelson went on Sirus XM Radio and talked about what would have happened if Howard never left Orlando:

Since leaving the Magic, Dwight Howard has seen his star status in the league vanish. The former All-Star has played for the Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards. Howard is back on the Lakers after signing a non-guaranteed deal with Los Angeles this summer.

Nelson has played for the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans and Detroit Pistons since his Magic days ended. He’s Orlando’s all-time leader in assists with 3,501.

Howard has a bunch of Magic records. He’s the franchise leader in points, minutes played, free throws, rebounds, blocks and win shares. However, Howard probably won’t get his number retired by the Magic since he left the franchise on bad terms with a lot of people in the organization.
