The Kentucky Wildcats basketball program suffered a loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to the Kansas State Wildcats basketball program, and Kentucky fans continue to voice their frustration for head coach John Calipari after the loss.
Media members have talked about the performance of the Kentucky basketball program in recent years as well.
“John Calipari and Kentucky in last 3 years. 2021: 9-16 and did not make NCAA tourney. 2022: lost in first round to No. 15 St. Peter's. 2023: lost in second round to a Kansas State team picked last in Big 12,” wrote @GoodmanHoops.
“So, if Kentucky enters the NCAA Tournament next season, it will have been half a decade since they made the second weekend of the big dance. The Wildcats keep winning offseason titles, but when it comes to the most important time of year? It hasn't happened in awhile,” wrote @John_Fanta.
As mentioned above, Kentucky fans were not happy with John Calipari.
“How has Calipari only won one title with all that talent he's had over the years? The math ain't mathing…” wrote @ANDRE3000ISGOAT.

“I've always defended Calipari, but he 100% lost UK that game by leaving Reeves in. He was 1 for 15 shooting… 1-10 from 3 and he didn't even hit the one shot he made until the last 7 seconds of the game. You can't leave a kid who's shooting THAT bad in a tournament game. SMH,” wrote @_zipay.
Many have noted the fact that blue bloods Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina are not in the tournament, with North Carolina missing altogether. Some have theories on why that is the case.
“NIL has changed things for those schools. Can't cheat anymore it's all above board and now that it's above board there will be places who are better at marketing/doing this stuff legitimately,” wrote @MisterHotBalls.
The tournament began with madness on the first day, and it is only continuing as we approach the end of the second round.
