Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks has forged his named beside LeBron James as the only players with a 40-point triple-double before turning 21 years old.

The 20-year-old Slovenian phenom dropped 42 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists in Monday's win over the San Antonio Spurs, 117-110. This is Doncic's sixth triple-double in the young 2019-20 season. So far, Doncic is averaging 25.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game.

He's continuing to exceed expectations in just his second year in the NBA. Last year, he displayed how the youngest EuroLeague MVP can easily bring his game to the NBA.

Initially, some were skeptical about Doncic's abilities. Some say that it will be difficult for him to transition to the NBA where players are much more athletic and tactical. Others even believe that Doncic has already reached his peak and will no longer improve.

But right from the get-go, Doncic displayed his innate understanding of the game at such a young age. The statistics certainly prove this point.

James himself was amazed at Doncic's talents when they dueled earlier this month. It was an overtime win by the Lakers as James posted a triple-double: 39 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 assists. Doncic went toe-to-toe with his idol and finished with a triple-double as well with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 15 assists.

James holds a ton of ‘youngest' records in the NBA. From the looks of it, Doncic will either tie or surpass some of them.
