The Dallas Mavericks recently posted the organization's official statement with regard to the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police last Monday. Unfortunately, it is not completely clear what the Mavs are trying to say here.
Almost every team in the NBA has come out with their own statement on the issues that have gripped the nation of late, but for the Mavs, theirs turned out to be a bit of a curveball. So much so, that instead of encouraging unity and restoring a sense of pride, their statement became a bit of comic relief in the midst of all the anger and desperation in social media.
Before anything else, here is the statement posted on the official Twitter account of the Mavs:
The message starts out strong and intelligible, but it seems to lose all comprehension towards the end as it forcefully tries to insert a basketball analogy in the statement. Don't take our word for it, though. As it turns out, more than a few other folks on Twitter were also left bewildered by this rather futile attempt for a battle cry by the Mavs.

The comments section is even more brutal, so you may want to give that a quick browse if you're looking to get a quick laugh out of all this. At this point, it seems that we all need a break.
We're 99% sure that this statement did not get the green light from Mavs owner Mark Cuban. If it did, then we need to call him out too. Then again, Cuban and some of his players were busy walking the walk, as they took to the streets to join the peaceful protests in Dallas.
