Dallas Mavericks forward Luka Doncic and his glowing Rookie of the Year campaign took a sudden turn during Sunday's 94-93 loss to the Houston Rockets, as the rookie claimed to feel a pop in his right knee while grabbing an uncontested rebound, according to Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News.

“I just felt a pop,” said Doncic. “We'll see.”

Doncic stayed in the game, despite the injury, but the Mavs will evaluate him before Monday's practice to see the condition of his knee.

The third overall pick in this year's NBA Draft has been having a season worth remembering with averages of 21.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He has managed to register a whopping minus-115 in his last 10 games as the Mavs have taken a drumming, losing nine of those last 10, including the last five after a loss to Houston:

“It's not a very exclusive club,” said head coach Rick Carlisle. “We've all been taking a beating.”

With little else to play for in the penultimate spot of the Western Conference at 27-39, the Mavs will play it very careful with their franchise star, as only 16 games remain in the season.

The Mavs already have one injured star sitting out the season in Kristaps Porzingis and would prefer avoiding to lose another to a banged-up knee, especially one with such promise.
