Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is one of the best coaches in NBA history, and he solidified that further in the Mavs' win over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.

After guiding the Mavs to a 123-100 victory over the Hawks, Carlisle became only the 13th coach in NBA history to reach 500 wins with one franchise. He joins the likes of Gregg Popovich, Jerry Sloan, Red Aurbach and Phil Jackson to name a few.

In his post-game presser, however, Carlisle played down the milestone. He did mentioned Dirk Nowitzki though and emphasized how lucky he is to coach a Hall of Famer and be part of a winning organization like the Mavs.

Rick Carlisle now holds a 500-435 record with Dallas in his 12th season as head coach of the team. Overall, Carlisle his 18 years of coaching experience under his belt and boasts an overall record of 781-646 for a 54.7 percent winning percentage.

The 60-year-old coach has a decorated career on the sidelines, having won a coach of the year award and a championship in his nearly two decades as head coach. He won the top coaching honor in 2002 when he was with the Detroit Pistons, while he bagged his first Larry O'Brien trophy as coach with the Mavs in 2011.

Dallas is currently on pace to make the playoffs this season, which marks the eight time that they will reach the postseason under Carlisle. The Mavs have been perennial playoff contenders with Rick at the helm, having only missed the postseason four times in the past 11 seasons — including the last three campaigns.

The Mavs are 30-19 on the season after Saturday's win, which is good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
