The woman who accused Kristaps Porzingis of rape reportedly had a “consensual, sexual ongoing relationship” with the Dallas Mavericks star. Per Mike Fisher of 247Sports, Daily Mail NYPD source tagged the rape claim as a ‘ridiculous accusation without merit.' It added that the accuser had a ‘consensual, sexual ongoing relationship'.

As soon as the accusations spilled on over to the public, Porzingis' lawyer, Roland Riopelle, “unequivocally” denied the allegation. He also tagged it as an extortion attempt that's now being investigated by the FBI.

According to various news sources, the woman went to police Thursday and said Porzingis raped her in his Manhattan apartment last year while the center was playing for the New York Knicks.

According to the woman, after suffering a season-ending knee injury during a game at Madison Square Garden against the Milwaukee Bucks, Porzingis invited her to his Manhattan apartment. This was when Porzingis allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The lawyer noted that they've been aware of the accusation for some time — even before a trade was sealed that sent Porzingis to Dallas. In fact, the Knicks informed the Mavs of the pending rape allegation and for their part, were reportedly convinced that Porzingis was telling the truth.
