The Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly discussing a trade that would send Danilo Gallinari to Dallas in a sign-and-trade deal and the 18th pick in the 2020 draft to OKC, per Matt Babcock of Babcock Hoops.

Gallinari is an unrestricted free agent, but Thunder general manager Sam Presti–one of the best in the NBA–is trying to get something in return for the talented small forward.

The Thunder are in rebuild mode after trading All-Star point guard Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns and Dennis Schroder to the Los Angeles Lakers. Most pundits wouldn't be surprised if OKC trades Steven Adams as well.

The Mavs need a third dynamic scorer and shooter next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Danilo Gallinari fits that bill, as he averaged 18.7 points per game for the Thunder in 2019-20 while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 40.5 percent from beyond the arc and 89.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Dallas lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 2020 playoffs in six games at Walt Disney World. The Mavs desperately need to acquire Gallinari since Porzingis isn't going to be ready for the start of the 2020-21 season after undergoing his second knee surgery in his career.

With the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Clippers and Thunder, Gallinari has career averages of 16.2 points, 4.9 boards and 2.0 assists. Mavs fans are hoping he's in Dallas soon.
