The Dallas Mavericks have had a rather eventful offseason so far. Despite losing Jalen Brunson to free agency, the team made massive improvements to their front court position. The additions of Christian Wood and JaVale McGee will hopefully bolster the positions that were a massive liability for Dallas last season.

After their major moves, the Mavs basically have one roster spot available for them after the offseason chaos. Marc Stein details what Mark Cuban and the team is planning with the last roster slot.

The Mavs and Goran Dragic have been linked together since the Slovenian PG was bought out by Toronto midway through the 2021 season. However, Dragic instead chose to go to the Brooklyn Nets in an effort to compete for a ring. Still, the dream of reuniting Doncic with his Slovenian mentor is very much alive.

However, as Stein noted, the Mavs have more pressing issues at other positions than point guard. In particular, their wing depth has been suspect as well. Reggie Bullock and Dorian-Finney Smith were good options last season for them, especially in the playoffs. However, aside from the two, the team struggled to find consistent production from their other wings.

Couple that with the fact that the Mavs have a solid point guard rotation with Spencer Dinwiddie taking over point guard duties, and they're unlikely to go for Dragic immediately. Still, it's possible that Dallas gets The Dragon in free agency, if only to make Doncic happy. Perhaps he can even fill the hole left behind by Brunson in free agency?
