With his trade to the Dallas Mavericks now official, Christian Wood has finally broken his silence about the deal and his departure from the Houston Rockets after two seasons with the team.

Wood released statement thanking the Rockets and the city of Houston for his short but productive stint with the franchise. Since he'll stay in Texas and is only moving to Dallas, he highlighted he'll stay tuned in with the team.

The 26-year-old big man also couldn't help but ask if he has now become rivals with the Rockets.

As for his move to the Mavs, Christian Wood is obviously excited. The Mavs are coming off a sensational playoff run that saw them reach the West Finals, and so naturally, expectations are high that the new center can help them replicate that success or even improve on it.

Not to mention that he'll be playing alongside a superstar in Luka Doncic, who is projected to help Wood elevate his game.

ā€œHuge opportunity in Dallas Iā€™m excited,ā€ Wood wrote on Twitter.

It remains to be seen how the Mavs plan to use Wood and what other moves they could take in a bid to transform the roster into a championship contender. However, there is no denying that they are on the right track after filling their biggest need at center.
