The Los Angeles LakersIsaiah Thomas lost his Kobe shoes and simply wanted to put them back on. Yogi Ferrell, however, didn’t want him to. In order to buy his team more time, Ferrell decided to kick Thomas’ shoe right in front of the referee.

Even his teammate with the Dallas Mavericks, J.J. Barea, decided to get in on the action, too, by slapping the ball away from Thomas’ hands.

Some of the comments on Twitter about this sequence have been quite hilarious. Some simply can’t accept the fact that Ferrell disrespected the Nikes worn by Thomas because they were Kobe kicks. It’s no secret that Thomas is an admirer of Kobe Bryant whom he considers to be the best ever to play the game.

In the early minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lakers point guard drove baseline but lost his footing and stepped out of bounds. That wasn’t the only thing he lost as his shoe came off as well. Thomas held on to the ball while trying to retrieve his shoe but Ferrell started kicking it away from him.

Clearly upset by the childish play, Thomas complained to the referee, pointing out what Ferrell was doing. Meanwhile, Barea was getting impatient as the delay cost his team time to set up a play. The Mavs guard sneaked behind him to secure the basketball while Thomas was holding on to it. The referee decided enough was enough and promptly gave the Mavericks a delay of game violation.

The antics didn’t help the Mavericks, however, as they fell to the Lakers in a rout, 124-102.
