Another piece looks to have fallen in the ongoing mess of MLB cheating, as the Boston Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have mutually agreed to part ways, according to a post made by the Red Sox on their official Twitter account.

After having led the team to win the 2018 World Series, Cora was caught up in the cheating scandal that rocked the sport of baseball, something that he has seemingly been running from ever since leaving the Houston Astros.

For the Red Sox, any sort of punishment that Cora was about to be served with was apparently deemed to be too much, and rightfully so, especially after seeing how both Astros manager A.J. Hinch and Astros General Manager and President of Baseball Operations Jeff Luhnow were given one-year suspensions for their involvements.

In his portion of the statement, Cora mentioned that he did not want to be a distraction to the team was a huge part of why he and the team decided it was best to go their separate ways. While a very difficult way to end his time in Boston, his two years at the helm leading the Red Sox were quite eventful, especially with having won a World Series in that small frame of time.

Moving forward, the Red Sox have a big decision to make, especially since they were marred in struggles during the ‘19 regular season.

Needing to right the ship in a quick and efficient manner, they may look to a few potential former players to jump in and manage the team, as former catcher and franchise savant Jason Veritek could become a potential candidate for the team as they move through their managerial search.
