The Jordan Brand appears to have welcomed its newest member in the form of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Moe Wagner. According to Nick DePaula of ESPN, the former Michigan Wolverines has agreed on a multi-year shoe deal with Jordan Brand.

Wagner, who played college basketball with the Michigan Wolverines, isn’t new to representing the said apparel, as Michigan also sported Jordan Brand-sponsored outfits back when he was still in Ann Arbor. In other words, Wagner must have had his eyes always looking in the direction of the Nike subsidiary company.

Wagner was selected No. 25 overall by the Lakers, who were impressed for the sweet-shooting big man’s performance in the last NCAA season. Wagner was the leader of the Wolverines team that went all the way into the national championship game. Although they lost to the Villanova Wildcats in the national finals, they still had a memorable run in the tournament, which included them stopping the pumpkin ride of March Madness Cinderella, Loyola-Chicago, in the Final Four.

Moe Wagner is expected to provide the Lakers a floor-spacing biggie, someone who plays well alongside LeBron James’ strengths and tendencies.  He’s currently behind veteran JaVale McGee on the Lakers’ depth chart, but he’s in line to get significant playing time because of his ability to sink 3-pointers.

In his final year in Michigan, Wagner averaged 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, while shooting 39.4 percent from behind the arc.

Wagner earlier signed a two-year contract worth $3.83 million with the Lakers back in July.
