Washington Nationals slugger Juan Soto’s name has been connected to several teams in recent trade talks.

Coming off of a recent All-Star break that saw Juan Soto win the Home Run Derby, he is currently one of the most talked about players in baseball. The 23-year-old outfielder has reportedly turned down a massive extension from the Nationals.

Soto reportedly reneged at a potential 15-year, $440 million dollar extension. The deal would have given Juan Soto the biggest contract in MLB history.

Now on the heels of the rejection, the Nationals are listening to offers for the two-time All-Star. As many as seven teams have already sent out potential trade packages.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, two teams stand out from the rest. The Blue Jays and the San Diego Padres

Olney went on ESPN’s Get Up to break down why these two teams could make the most sense.

“The two most, I think, invested teams in this chase might turn out to be the San Diego Padres, who are a win-now team. How much fun would Tatís and Soto and Machado be in their lineup?” Olney said. “And the Toronto Blue Jays, who desperately need a left-handed hitter in the middle of that very right-handed lineup.”

By adding a player of Juan Soto’s status, a team will automatically become significantly better.

The San Diego Padres have already put together a solid roster. They currently have a record of 52-42 but will get past the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Toronto Blue Jays have a team full of elite young talent. Juan Soto would fit right in playing alongside many of those players. The Blue Jays currently sit at 50-43. They are still significantly behind the New York Yankees, who boast the best record in baseball.
