The long-awaited basketball video game NBA 2K19 released a new trailer featuring a revamped MyCAREER story mode; The Way Back, this time honing into the life of an undrafted prospect making it into the NBA.

The trailer shows a player not hearing his name at the NBA Draft after a stint overseas, only to get a crack to link with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the G League in search for his future in the league.

Unlike the prior two story-heavy iterations of the game, in which a player was allowed to be drafted, this path is the un-glorified one, the less known — but one from which many NBA players have carved a niche through, like Jonathon Simmons, Wesley Matthews and Jeremy Lin.

Former players like Ben Wallace, Raja Bell and Brad Miller have gone onto notable NBA careers despite going undrafted, and NBA 2K19 brings this into the forefront, allowing the player to come into the league from a lesser-known pathway.

Players will be able to get a sneak peek into The Way Back by downloading The Prelude on Aug. 31 to play the first chapter for free.
