It's always big news when finding out who the next cover athlete will be for the NBA 2K series. This year for NBA 2K22 was no different. It was teased for awhile and many guessed and speculated and now the questions have an answer.

Luka Doncic, Candace Parker and other stars will grace the cover of NBA 2K22.

Parker will be the first female cover athlete in the history of the 2K franchise. Doncic makes the cover after putting together another incredible year for the Dallas Mavericks.

The NBA 75th Anniversary Edition will feature a cover that has Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzki. It's hard to complain about any of those three being on the special edition cover or how it turned out.

Doncic is coming off another dominating year in which he averaged 27.7 points per game, 8.0 rebounds and 8.6 assists per pop. He again led the Mavericks to the playoffs and now he's on the cover of NBA 2K22.

Candace Parker is with the Chicago Sky this year after spending her first 13 seasons in Los Angeles with the Sparks. So far this season, Parker is averaging 13.3 points per game to go along with 8.8 rebounds per contest. She's also shooting 39% from three-point range. Now, she can add NBA 2K22 cover athlete to her long list of accomplishments on the resume.

Both took to Twitter to react to the news.

The release for the 2K cover athlete never seems to disappoint and that again was the case for NBA 2K22 as Parker made history for the video game franchise while Doncic got the well deserved nod as well.
