The second-ever NBA Awards bring forward some of the best players, coaches, and plays, recognizing the best of the best throughout a long 82-game NBA season. TNT televised this awards ceremony in conjunction with the NBA, giving the players the opportunity to celebrate these accomplishments in front of their peers.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:

WINNER: Rudy Gobert

After tying Draymond Green for defensive efficiency in 2016-17, Gobert finally reaches the coveted recognition he's wanted all along after posting a remarkable 2.3 blocks per game, despite missing 25 games to injury.

It was Gobert's return to the lineup which spearheaded a massive comeback by the Utah Jazz, going from the 10th spot in the Western Conference to an eventual fifth spot, which they rode into the Western Conference semifinals.
