On the same day his former Iowa State Cyclones teammate, Georges Niang, was cut by the Indiana Pacers, Abdel Nader has seemingly locked down an NBA contract as reported by The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Nader was the 2016 NBA Draft's 58th overall selection by the Boston Celtics but wasn't able to see action in the big league after that. Instead, he found a temporary home in the NBA's Developmental League, where he spent the 2016-17 campaign playing for the Maine Red Claws.

After a season in the D-League in which he averaged 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game on his way to becoming the first foreign-born player to win the league Rookie of the Year award, the 6-6 Nader appeared to have finally caught the eye of the Celtics' front office, enough for Danny Ainge and company to offer him a rookie contract.

Nader also participated in this year's Summer League, posting 14.7 points and 3.0 rebounds averages in three games for the Celtics.

The forward slot on the Celtics' roster looks a bit congested right now with the likes of Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum in the mix but considering the length of his contract with Boston, Nader has plenty of time to prove Boston was right in signing him.
