While there's still no consensus No.1 pick in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft this November, most pundits believe Anthony Edwards' name will likely be the first one off the board. The 19-year-old phenom has received rave reviews for his NBA-ready game but looks like his interview skills need a bit of work.

Edwards trended on Thursday following a clip of him making confusing comments about the pandemic.

“I feel like the pandemic is nothing to me. I was already living in the pandemic because all I wanted to do is to get better,” the University of Georgia said in an interview, while wearing a shirt with the Klutch Sports logo.

Twitter users, meanwhile, were quick to poke fun at the potential NBA top pick for his poor choice of words. Anthony Edwards' comical analogy was certainly a head-scratcher, given the last recorded pandemic before COVID-19 was the Spanish Influenza in 1918. Plus, speaking about the coronavirus will always be a rather sensitive issue considering its high death toll worldwide.

However, what Edwards probably meant to say is that the unfavorable effects of the pandemic did not affect his preparations for the big leagues, since he already endured a lot during his tough upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 6-foot-5 prospect certainly means well, but just failed to express himself in an eloquent manner. Maybe his communication skills will improve after a couple of years in the league. Anthony Edwards appears like he has a bright future ahead of him following that terrific one-and-done year with the Bulldogs. The do-it-all guard averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals throughout his 32-game collegiate career.

Luckily for him, that media blunder won't have much of an effect on his draft stock next month.
