Highly touted NBA Draft prospect Bronny James has gained momentum after turning heads in the Combine process, especially for his defensive performance during scrimmages. As a result, he now appears one step closer to possibly joining his father on the Los Angeles Lakers.

James will work out with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, via The Athletic's Shams Charania.

“There is definitely a scenario where LeBron James ends up on a roster with Bronny James,” Charania said on The Pat Mcafee Show. “The simple fact is, the Lakers want to potentially draft Bronny James. They have the No. 55 overall pick in the draft, they have the No. 17 pick in the draft as well, and they obviously want to have LeBron James on the roster, they wanna see if they can fulfill his vision. He's been on the record about it.”

LeBron's vision, of course, is to play with his son in the NBA.  If the Lakers were able to pair him with Bronny, it would create the first father-son duo in league history.

However, it's also important for Bronny to go to an organization where he can continue to succeed after LeBron hangs up the sneakers.

“But I think for Bronny James, it is important, whether it's the Lakers or it's another team, to figure out a home where from a development perspective, from a perspective of your future being solidified, because I don't think Bronny James wants to just play a couple years,” Charania continued. “From what I'm told, LeBron James is gonna play up to two more NBA seasons. I don't think Bronny James' vision is to play two NBA seasons and then be done once his dad is done. I think the vision is having a long NBA career, a runway, and whether that's in LA, whether that's elsewhere.”

How likely is it that the USC alum goes to another team besides Los Angeles?

While several teams are interested in Bronny, he isn't expected to visit with all of them, via Charania.

“I'm told he has over 10 NBA invites to workout right now, he had a Pro Day on Wednesday in Los Angeles, he worked out at the Combine last week,” Charania continued. “There's obviously teams really looking at the way he shoots, the way he is right now. We know about the cardiac arrest last year, but he looks like he's in good shape. I actually talked to some teams, he may have even bulked up just a little bit since the season ended…I'm told that one other team that Bronny James will be working out for is the Phoenix Suns before the NBA Draft. The Suns have the No. 22 overall pick. He's among several players under consideration for that.”

While the Suns and Lakers are the only two teams that he's confirmed to be visiting so far, that doesn't mean that another team won't draft him anyway. The 19-year-old could be used as leverage in a possible trade if an organization feels like taking a swing at possibly landing LeBron.

Regardless, it seems clear at this point that Bronny will be with an NBA team in some capacity next year, whether it's in the G-League or the top level.
