Duke University forward RJ Barrett will visit the New York Knicks early next week for meetings, medical evaluation and light court work, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Knicks will select third overall in this upcoming 2019 NBA Draft, making Barrett, the consensus No. 3 selection, the most likely selection.

The Knicks fell short of the awaited No. 1 pick, which was likely etched with a Zion Williamson pick, but his former teammate Barrett is just as capable a scorer.

Barrett is a gifted shot-creating artist that can get his shot off the dribble comfortably while playmaking for others, he averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists in his lone season with the Blue Devils.

While he isn't deemed the generational talent that Williamson is, he is a well-rounded player that can develop into a true franchise player, boasting the right flexibility to play as a shooting guard or small forward, thanks to his dynamic 6-foot-7 frame.

Barrett is capable, but still raw — needing to fine-tune his release point and mechanics before becoming a reliable No. 1 guy that can call his own number and put a team on his shoulders.

While the talent is there, the Knicks could potentially evaluate him and decide whether they plan to select him in the NBA Draft or potentially bundle him in a deal for the top trade target of this upcoming offseason — Anthony Davis.

Barrett does have a history of lower-body injuries, which could play a part in the Knicks' decision upon finishing his evaluation.
