The Russell Westbrook experience in Washington has officially come and gone. The Wizards had just come to terms on an NBA Draft day trade that sends Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and LA's 22nd overall pick.

Washington has gone ahead and turned that NBA draft pick into potentially their new starting point guard, agreeing to a trade with the Indiana Pacers for incoming fourth-year PG Aaron Holiday.

Holiday had a relatively down year last season after a more promising sophomore stint with the Indiana Pacers. The 3-year man has career averages of 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. But the diminutive guard is only 24 years old and still probably has his best basketball ahead of him. And if not, the Wizards also got additional NBA draft capital in the deal, getting the 31st selection. The first pick in the second round is always a desirable asset given the flexibility in terms of contract negotiations, while getting a borderline first-round talent.

The Wizards add Holiday and their 2nd rounder to their NBA draft haul headlined by Gonzaga's Corey Kispert. The loss of Russell Westbrook is definitely going to be a polarizing transaction among D.C. fans, but clearly the team is now looking ahead.
