If the Toronto Raptors win Game 6 of the NBA Finals, the 2018-19 season will officially end on Thursday night. If the Golden State Warriors rebound from the devastating injury to Kevin Durant to force a Game 7, the season will come to a close on Sunday one way or another.

League  followers certainly won't be without fodder once the Finals are finished, though, as the NBA Draft is on June 20th and free agency is right around the corner 10 days later. But in many ways it seems like the offseason has already begun, as the Anthony Davis trade saga reaches a new zenith. There's nearly been as much interest in the New Orleans Pelicans superstar's next destination over the past few days as there's been in a championship series unlike any other the league has ever seen.

The Pelicans made light of that hysteria during Game 6, posting a photo of Raptors assistant Jamaal Magloire using a paper cup as a megaphone from his team's bench. New Orleans' message to the masses? Don't believe what the trade machine tells you.

According to ESPN, the Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers are in advanced discussions on a trade that would send Davis to play for the purple and gold alongside LeBron James. The one reported holdup? The Lakers' insistence on retaining forward Kyle Kuzma.
