Former first-overall pick Andrew Bogut has apparently shut the door for a possible return to the NBA. This is after Bogut recently signed a deal with Australia’s National Basketball League franchise, Sydney Kings.

According to Fox Sports Australia’s Olgun Uluc, Bogut’s contract with the Kings does not have an option for Bogut to leave Sydney should an opportunity in the NBA or in Europe opens up for the big man.

Andrew Bogut says there are no NBA outs in his deal. No Euro outs, either. He’s committed to the Sydney Kings for two years, and says he’s retired from the NBA.

Bogut was last seen wearing an NBA uniform with the Los Angeles Lakers this 2017-18 season in which he appeared in 24 games (with five starts) and averaged minimal productions of 1.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 9.0 minutes per game.

Bogut is only 33, but his body has been damaged with a multitude of injuries he accrued over his 12-year NBA career. Taken as the first pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, Bogut donned Bucks’ colors for his first seven seasons in the NBA. In 2012, Bogut was traded by the Bucks to the Golden State Warriors for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh, and Kwame Brown. He spent four seasons with the Warriors and was part of Golden State’s team that won the NBA title in 2015. He also had short stints with the Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If this is truly the end of Bogut’s time in the NBA, then he leaves the league with career averages of 9.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 694 total regular season games.
