Former number one overall pick Andrew Bogut is leaving the NBA to go back to Australia and play with the Sydney Kings of the NBL.

The Kings announced the signing on Twitter on Sunday night and have indicated that a press conference will be held on Monday morning to introduce Bogut to the media.

Bogut was taken number one overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2005 NBA draft, becoming the first Australian ever to be taken with the first pick.

He played seven seasons with the Bucks before moving to the Golden State Warriors, eventually winning a championship in 2015.

Since that point, he has bounced around the NBA dealing with injuries that have made it hard for him to stay on one team. He only played more than 70 games in a season twice in his NBA career. His best year statistically was in 2009-10, when he averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Although he has dealt with a lot of injuries and was put on waivers by the Los Angeles Lakers in January, he recently told ESPN that he felt he had a number of years left in the NBA.

It's unclear if he will try and make a comeback in the NBA later in his career, but at least for the next season, he will be playing with the Sydney Kings.
